Jean-Philippe Côté is an artist based in Longueuil. His visual and interactive work is always driven by algorithms. By using open source software and “obsolete” pieces of hardware, he sets up interactive installations that give an impression of tangibility to this artificial, virtual and augmented world. Jean-Philippe uses his early years as an award-winning developer to design algorithmic approaches to art creation and remodeling of reality. This makes him a respected contributor to the open source community, especially in the areas of creative coding and physical computing. His favorite subject is the human body that he often draws using micro or macro line segments. Although figurative, his work defies perception. The brain of the viewer is invited to fill in the gaps and we often have to change our point of view to fully appreciate the work.
